Key Responsibilities:
- Application Development: The Application Development Engineer (ADE) is responsible for all customer-related technical aspects of the technology in Europe. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to innovative solutions that meet customer specifications and market demands.
- Project management: you drive and coordinate material homologation in collaboration with R&D and Sales. As a transversal role, you need to be flexible and work on autonomy, taking initiatives with the aim of serving customer.
- Technical Support & process expertise: you provide in-depth and on-site technical support to the customer during the prototyping & engineering phases of new projects and provides technical support for running projects in case of technical issues and complaints. The Application Development engineer (ADE) provides technical support regarding processing of the respective R&D teams in connection with other regions (EU-APAC-US-JP-CN)
- Customer Troubleshooting: you assist customers in resolving technical issues related to the applications and processing (polymer processing mainly, injection, extrusion). Provide guidance on processing techniques and material performance to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Sales Support: you work closely with the sales team to promote our products by providing technical expertise and insights that help convince customers of the benefits and suitability of our materials. You give recommendations to sales for high technical applications.
- Market Insights: you stay informed about industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies in the automotive and industrial sectors to enhance the company's product offerings.
- Customer Engagement: you actively engage with customers to gather feedback on product performance and application challenges and use this information to inform R&D and drive product improvements.
- Collaboration with R&D: The Application Development Engineer (ADE) works closely with R&D regarding minor formulation optimization during the prototyping/start-up phase of a Project, whenever this is necessary. You communicates customer needs and application specifics to the R&D team to facilitate the development of tailored solutions that meet market demands.
- Documentation and Reporting: you prepare and maintain accurate documentation regarding test results, and customer interactions and present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Polymer Science;
- 5 years experience in application development or technical support, ideally with thermoplastic elastomers or polyolefin in automotive and industrial applications;
- Project management experience on matrix organization;
- Strong understanding of polymer processing techniques, including injection molding and extrusion. Knowledge of design tools and software related to polymer processing (e.g., CAD, simulation software);
- Customer oriented spirit to maintain customer trust and proposed new development opportunities;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to customer support;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and support sales initiatives;
- Willingness to travel for customer visits and technical support;
- Proficient in English and French.
