About Us

At Mitsubishi Chemical UK Electrolytes Division we are a small team of 30-50 employees manufacturing Sol-Rite™ formulated electrolytes in organic solvents. These are used for lithium-ion batteries with formulations designed to meet the customer needs and to optimise the battery performance.

 

Role Summary

In this role, you will manage all aspects of the laboratory operations for the Electrolytes Business. This will include managing the business quality systems & associated ISO registrations, leading improvement projects, monitoring KPIs and directly managing all quality queries with both customers and suppliers.

You will be required to provide leadership to the Laboratory team across SHE performance, team management and delivery of work.

You will be expected to build relationships with customers and provide advice on chemistry and analytical expertise, required to produce electrolytes. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: You will manage all laboratory and Quality activities, including direct line management for the laboratory team.  You will manage, develop and review technical best practices, competency development, and safety processes in the laboratory.
  • Compliance: You will be required to ensure business and site SHE standards are complied with, Laboratory production targets are met, and ensure the laboratory meets the highest QC/QA standards in relation to the ISO manufacturing processes. As part of this role, you will be required to develop, implement and manage procedures and digital systems to ensure excellence in Quality. You will be responsible for quality processes to ensure the business continues to be registered to ISO9001, IATF 16949.
  • Collaboration and Communication: You will be required to lead internal and customer quality audits in line with ISO standard regulations and participate in regulatory audits. You will also be required to manage customer relation activities including implementing customer requirements that impact the manufacturing process, ISO standard information and customer complaints investigation and improvement.
  • Financial accountability: To manage the laboratory budget to ensure efficiency of costs and ensure correct authorisation processes are followed.

  

What Are We Looking For?

  • Qualifications/Experience: Chemistry qualifications and/or other relevant experience.
  • Analytical Skills: You will be responsible for managing development programs or making improvements to QA analytical methods and equipment, therefore, knowledge in this area would be advantageous.
  • Leadership and Communication: Experience in line management and strong interpersonal skills to influence outcomes and engage effectively across all organisational levels would be desirable.
